International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day 2014, observed March 8, inspires us to celebrate achievements in women’s equality and emancipation worldwide. The day also brings attention to areas of continued inequality, where acts of courage and determination are still needed in order to make the world more just. IRD’s programs address women’s issues through protection from domestic and gender-based violence, healthcare, career training and small business support, and education. In addition to being the focus of IRD’s work, women take on leadership roles both withing our organization and as local partners and beneficiaries.

Astrology-loving MP David Tredinnick ‘convinced’ practise can reduce strain on NHS
While many people glance at their horoscope in the newspaper as a form of entertainment, a Conservative MP has suggested that astrology has a role in medicine.
MP for Bosworth, David Tredinnick, who is a member of the health committee and the science and technology committee, said he was not deterred by his critics whom he labelled “bullies”.
“There is no logic in attacking something that has a proven track record,” he told BBC News.
In an interview with the broadcaster, Mr Tredinnick said herbal remedies and healing were now becoming accepted in parts of the NHS, and he now wanted to promote astrology, which he claimed was not just about predicting the future, but gaining an understanding of personal problems.

Solar eclipse set to cast its shadow Date April 29, 2014 – 11:50AM
Australian star-gazers will be treated to a rare celestial spectacle from late Tuesday afternoon, as an annular solar eclipse casts its shadow across the land down under.
Perth will be the first to welcome what will be seen here as a partial eclipse at 1.17pm, followed by Adelaide (3.25pm), Hobart (3.51pm), Melbourne (3.58pm), Canberra (4.08pm), Sydney (4.14pm) and Darwin (4.21pm).
Get ready for the planetary influences of April How will these impact you? Anyway you choose.
The month of April holds tremendous opportunities for reflection and growth as we continue to navigate through the increased activity of this year known as the Seed of Life. Our lives are governed by the movement of the celestial bodies, the planets, the stars, the moon and the sun. The Moon waxes and wanes, rises and sets, drawing the waters of the world with it. The Moon has such a strong influence on the earth that twice a day, it makes the waters of the ocean ebb and flow. It also affects other parts of life on Earth. Plants, the weather, animals, man’s physical and emotional being, all are subject to lunar influences. This month we have the first of two total lunar eclipses, a solar eclipse and a powerful Grand Cross Alignment. In total, three very strong influences will impact us over the next couple of weeks
Bad moon rising April 9, 2014 Perry Vlahos
Most of us have watched a sunrise. Few have seen a moon rise. Even fewer have witnessed a bad moon rising such as will be able to be seen at sunset on Tuesday, April 15.
Take a deck chair or banana lounge and find a spot with a clear view to the east, so you can see right down to the distant hills or horizon. However, be ready for a shock, for there will be something wrong with our natural satellite. By all rights, we should be expecting a dazzling full moon to come over the horizon and bathe all in its sparkling cool light. It may take a little time to clear the hills or the horizon, but when it does, you will be in no doubt that this is not the moon you were expecting.
“E-Motion”
Imagine a world where the trapped emotions, fears, anxieties and unprocessed life experiences we hold in our bodies are the source of everything that ails us. That’s the world we live in. Now imagine a world where everyone is manifesting from their heart the perfect creation that’s inside each of us. Imagine a world where abundance, inner peace, longevity and loving relationships abound. Imagine emotion experts from around the world sharing their wisdom and negative emotion clearing techniques to light a new pathway for humanity. Imagine we are sacred, spiritual beings here for a much larger reason, serving a much higher purpose, a divine purpose.
International Womens Day 8 March 2014
In Colombia, we work with women and the government to take a strong stand against domestic violence. In Jordan, we help women refugees from Iraq and Syria complete vocational training, escape sex work and gender-based violence, and send their children to school. In Pakistan, we provide vocational training to conflict victims who have lost wage earners and set them up in new businesses. Around the world, IRD is increasing women’s and girls’ access to healthcare and education and offering them opportunities to gain financial independence. We strengthen local and national women’s groups, mentor local women leaders, and empower women to meet the needs of their families and to enjoy full partnership in community life. Please join me in celebrating International Women’s Day 2014 by reflecting on women’s accomplishments and, just as importantly, supporting our efforts to tap the vast potential of women to build a better future for their families, communities, and countries.

Cymatics is the study of the effects of sound vibrations on physical matter. When I was introduced to the pioneering work of Dr. Hans Jenny in 1977, it provided the visual evidence that proved the physical power of sound and music. This study has always been a featured part of my lectures and workshops. Now, with ‘sound made visible,’ it was possible to demonstrate astonishing effects on solids, liquids and gases.
John Stuart Reid and Erik Larson improved upon Dr Jenny’s tonoscope with their new CymaScope (TM) When we met at a Cymatics Therapy Conference, John offered to see what images the recording I made in 1981 while I chanted Inside the Great Pyramid would produce.
As you will see, and hear, the results were simply amazing. Note: I filmed the events on my hand-held digital video camera. The sound quality was not nearly as good as the CD, so we overdubbed as much of the pure CD sound as possible in post-production.
I highly recommend visiting John and Erik’s website http://www.sonic-age.com as well as http://www.cymaticsource.com for the actual DVDs and books by Dr. Hans Jenny.
If you have technical questions about the device itself, best to go to the developer http://www.cymascope.com attn: John Reid

Fifty shades of feminism is just that. A feminist broad church view taking the pulse of modern feminism.
Virago Press published a collection of widely diverse takes on where women globally are up to; and three of the contributors to the book formed this panel recorded live at the Sydney Writers’ Festival.
On reflection, feminism now seems stronger, more raw, tougher, more confronting and more positive than it has over the past few years. It’s a ‘take no prisoners’ approach; but the voices are confident, not strident

Some autistic children not properly diagnosed, says expert

Quantum physics proves that death is an illusion
November 28, 2013 Is death an illusion? Most scientists would probably say that the concept of an afterlife is either nonsense, or at the very least unprovable. Yet one expert claims he has evidence to confirm an existence beyond the grave – and it lies in quantum physics.
